Objects from Russia



Brass-Bell with Russian characters

Base width 4,845 cms. Height 5,195 cms





The exact origin of the item has not yet been clarified. It may be a gift from Rosemarie Zanger´s father Guenther Klinge, which he sent home from Russia, where he was a soldier in the German Wehrmacht between 1939 and 1943. 

The bell also could be attributed as personal object to her Grandfather Carl Wilhelm Weil who was born as son of Russian Jewish emigrants 20. February 1870 in Mainz. 

The base of the bell is decorated with Russian characters, probably

The exact translation or meaning has not yet been deciphered.

with description in russian and french 


The photography belonged probably to Rosemarie Zanger´s mother-in-law Gertrud Zanger Schmidt and dates in the time of their stay in Moscow around 1908

Unknown prodedence, probably from Russia and a personal object of Carl Wilhelm Weil, used in later years by his daughter Maria Klinge-Weil as support for decoration objects. It symbolizes probably an arborvitae (Thuja species).

Collected by Günther Klinge and stored in his LANDE MOKRI SUPERB Cigarrette Carton Box with a personal dedication to his wife or daughter from 17th April 1942









Ucrainia Photography Collection

The photography collection is preserved inside a metal Hannover Bahlsen Bisquit box and includes paper print photographies and 4.2 x 5.4 cms negatives, some stored inside an envelope from Th. Reusch Photoshop in Usingen.

The photographies date mostly in 1941. Some carry on their back date entries and notes some in the personal handwriting of Günther Klinge.

During the years 1940 until 1942 Günther Klinge moved away from his home in Emmershausen, leaving his daughter Rosmarie and his wife Maria, to start a stepwise eastward voyage in exclusively male company towards the Dnieper Lowlands south of City of Charkow in Ucrainia. The exact return date of the photographies to his home is unknown.
